Some artists find their calling in a classroom. Rocky Asbury found his in a garage — surrounded by paint-splattered walls and the quiet determination of a father who wanted more time with his daughter. After two decades in a demanding career, it was a simple question from his three-year-old that changed everything. She wanted her dad home more. And just like that, Rocky walked away from everything familiar and stepped — with no formal training, no roadmap, and no rules — into one of the hardest careers imaginable. Completely self-taught, he spent his early years experimenting, chasing styles, and searching for an identity that felt truly his own. It wasn't until he stopped trying to be someone else that everything clicked. Inspired by the raw expressionism of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the bold cultural commentary of Andy Warhol, and the rebellious spirit of street legends like Banksy and Condo, Rocky forged something entirely his own — a layered, high-energy style filtered through an unapologetically imperfect lens. He calls it beautifully messy — and means it as the highest compliment. Rocky works without limitations, combining acrylics, spray paints, oil sticks, resin, glass, and mixed media into compositions that feel genuinely alive. Loose brushstrokes, visible unrefined lines, layered textures, and vibrant sense-awakening color define his canvases. He trusts the process, allowing unexpected elements to breathe life into each piece — creating art that doesn't just hang on a wall, but commands the room. His inspiration is drawn from the world hiding in plain sight: a weathered sign, an overheard conversation, a colorful magazine cover. Rocky believes we are surrounded by art every single day — we simply have to open our eyes to see it. His mission is to translate those everyday moments into works that radiate love, light, and positive energy. Rocky's work can be found in private collections and businesses across the United States, in hotels, restaurants, and large-scale murals throughout Las Vegas and New York City.
